That’s why we’re proud to offer Same Day CEREC Crowns—a cutting-edge solution that allows us to repair and restore damaged teeth in just one appointment. No temporary crowns, no second visits, and no messy impressions. Just efficient, high-quality dental care, all completed in a single visit.
Using advanced CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) technology, we can scan, design, and mill your custom ceramic crown right here in our practice. Whether you have a cracked tooth, a large failing filling, or need protection after root canal therapy, CEREC crowns offer a fast and effective solution with long-lasting results
What Is a CEREC Crown?
CEREC crowns are custom-made ceramic restorations created using CAD/CAM (Computer-Aided Design and Manufacturing) technology. Instead of sending impressions to an external lab and waiting weeks for your crown to return, we design and craft your permanent crown in-house—while you relax in the chair.
These crowns are milled from a solid block of tooth-coloured ceramic, providing a natural appearance, a strong structure, and a precise fit tailored to your tooth’s exact shape and size.

Who Can Benefit from a Same Day Crown?
Same Day CEREC Crowns are ideal for patients who:
- Have a cracked, chipped, or broken tooth
- Need a crown after root canal treatment
- Want to replace a large or failing filling
- Are experiencing decay too extensive for a standard filling
- Desire a cosmetic upgrade for discoloured or misshapen teeth
- Have busy schedules and prefer fewer dental visits
If you’re unsure whether a CEREC crown is right for you, our experienced team at Albany Creek Dental will assess your needs during your consultation and recommend the most suitable treatment.
The Process:
We’ve refined our crown process to offer both efficiency and precision, ensuring patients receive long-lasting, natural-looking results without compromise.
Step 1: Digital Scanning
Using an intraoral camera, we take detailed 3D digital impressions of your tooth. This replaces the need for traditional moulds and improves accuracy.
Step 2: Custom Design
With our CEREC software, we digitally design your crown to match the exact dimensions of your tooth. We consider your bite, alignment, and neighbouring teeth to ensure a comfortable, functional result.
Step 3: In-House Milling
Your crown is milled from a solid ceramic block using our CEREC milling unit. The ceramic material is highly durable and designed to mimic the strength and aesthetics of natural enamel.
Step 4: Colour Matching and Bonding
Once milled, the crown is polished and custom-coloured to blend with your existing teeth. We then bond it securely in place, restoring full function to your tooth—on the same day.

Natural Aesthetics, Lasting Strength
CEREC crowns are made from high-grade ceramic that mimics the natural colour, shine, and translucency of real teeth. They are also resistant to stains and wear, making them an ideal choice for long-term restorations.
When cared for properly, your CEREC crown can last for 10 to 15 years or more—restoring both the function and beauty of your smile.
Aftercare and Maintenance
Looking after your crown is straightforward. We recommend:
- Brushing twice a day and flossing daily
- Avoiding biting into very hard substances (such as ice or nuts)
- Wearing a nightguard if you grind your teeth
- Attending routine dental check-ups and professional cleans
Regular maintenance will help extend the lifespan of your crown and keep your surrounding teeth and gums healthy.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long do CEREC crowns last?
With good oral hygiene and regular dental check-ups, CEREC crowns can last 10 to 15 years or longer. They are made from durable ceramic that resists wear and staining.
Is the procedure painful?
No. The process is performed under local anaesthetic, ensuring comfort throughout. Patients often find the digital scan and design process much more comfortable than traditional moulds.
Can I eat normally after receiving a CEREC crown?
Yes, once the anaesthetic wears off and your bite feels normal, you can return to eating your usual foods. However, it’s best to avoid very hard or sticky foods for the first 24 hours.
Is there a difference in quality compared to traditional lab-made crowns?
Are same day crowns suitable for front teeth?
Will my health fund cover a CEREC crown?
Most private health funds with major dental coverage will cover a portion of the cost of a crown. We can help you check your eligibility and provide on-the-spot HICAPS claiming at your appointment.
